It wouldn't a permanent arrangement but I have a 3'x5'x2.5' tall box covered in 1 inch hex chicken wire that my 4 chicks hang out in during the day and I wonder if eventually I could predator-proof it so they could be in it at night. Until I figure that out though, could I leave a large airline-approved dog carrier inside the tractor so they could go into that at night? The latch requires quite a bit of strength and to be pulled in two directions (you need thumb and a bigger hand than a racoon) to open it. A racoon could reach in if they got past the chicken wire tractor - but I don't think they could get through the plastic dog crate. Has anyone done this?

If you was to get some welded wire mesh, and wire it over the door, and side vents....yup, that will work! Just gotta keep those rascals from getting thier paws inside.

I use a super large Airline approved dog kennel inside my run. We are currently building a nice coop for them. So far, so good. I have heavy wire around the run and a heavy plastic mesh over the top and zip tied to the wire every 3 inches. So far so good. Now if they don't dig down to China we should be o.k.
