Is a simple door latch safe for a chicken coop?

Raccoons are very sneaky and good at opening latches, so in our coops we either put on a lock or use a bungee cord from the latch to hardware cloth to secure it and keep it tight. Haven’t had any raccoons get past that.

I use a hasp with a combination tumbler. Pretty sure I haven't shared the combination with any raccoons...

I have 3 pullets that are a bit more than 2 months old. It's my first time so I'm starting with few chickens.

Okay 3 is good there anymore they need 4 suare feet per bird but a great starting point later you can use to keep boys or raise littles or a sick coop lots of uses

Thanks for your advice! During the morning I open the door let them run around a fenced off area of my backyard, they're not in the coop all day. I'll get a pic of it tomorrow, do you mind giving me some advice on it?

I really appreciate all the help guys! It's my third thread and the advice is very helpful! I will definitely order some better latches and install them and I'll make a new post on that soon.
