Is anybody else skipping easter this year?

It's precisely because I'm a Christian that I will have nothing to do with Easter celebrations. And no, I won't explain that on the board. So, to answer your question, we do not celebrate Easter or Christmas and it had nothing to do with commercialismHaven't since not long after we got married.

Nope. We always hide the eggs with candy in them on Easter morning. Lots of fun.

This is about how my family and myself do all holidays. Burnt out long ago on the wasting money and running all over the place trying to get things done. Example. for Easter, we are going fishing! Oh and I understand your evil joy of watching the rest of the world on holidays, I do too.

We used to go to church and when I was little I always enjoyed the stories of Jesus on Easter and Christmas. I think when I was little, my family focused more on the religious aspects of the holidays because my mom wanted to give her children some sort of background in religion until we were old enough to choose for ourselves. I grew up catholic and did my years of sunday school and made my confirmation...but after that I sort of strayed from the church and christianity in general. Haven't chosen another religion and not sure I ever will, so for my family holidays have become more "family" days. We don't usually get crazy over any holidays, but we have some great little traditions I hope to pass on to my children some day.

If it was up to my mom, she'd have us partake in these little traditions until we are old and gray!

This year was pretty crazy for my family. I wasn't home for christmas eve and didn't go home until about noon on christmas. It was the first year I was not home for Halloween and I did not dress up (Halloween is one of my family's favorite holidays) and we celebrated st. patty's day and a few of the other holidays on different days because the family just couldn't get together. It is sad growing up, but I know my mom as well as myself are looking forward to doing old traditions, as well as starting new ones, with my own kids!

we celebrate all the holidays. Now that I have young kids its funner yet but I dont think any one ever gets too old for easter egg hunts . you dont have to go overboard, just do your traditions if youre able to and remember why there even is a holiday.

Like you I was brought up catholic and lost interest after confirmation. But I would just like to add that you can "celebrate" Easter wherever you are by simply reflecting on what it means to you personally.

You don't have to get candy or dye eggs to celebrate.

Does over consumption of Cadbury eggs until you explode and they need the cattle scales to weigh you count??? If so, we are in!!!
