Is anybody else skipping easter this year?

In my adult life, I don't really go all out for any holiday. On Easter, I take a moment to reflect upon the Christian significance of the day and then carry on as usual.

We could have a serious debate on which is better, cadbury eggs or the utterly delicious reese's peanut butter eggs like the one I'm eating right now.

I'm having the kind of night where I could sit with a bowl of reese's PB eggs, cadbury eggs, and a 12 count package of Dove truffle eggs and be happy. Oh! and I bought my soon-to-be DSD one of those solid chocolate bunnies with the really long ears. Let's throw him in the bowl too.

Sorry for the hi-jack. The chocolate made me do it.

Not religious here in any way. Hubby is a "lax" Christian, I'm atheist, boys aren't being raised with religion. But, we do celebrate x-mas and easter, they're family holidays. However, I've come to dislike holidays anymore. We just have SOOO much running to do and end up having to juggle around so many different places, that we end up not having time to do our own family thing. We've got my parents, my dad's place, the MIL's place, and then hubby's grandmother's place. And, of course, they always have to plan everything at the same darned time. So far, only my parents and the MIL have said anything, so I'm hoping that they're the only ones who invite us, then we can have a little easter egg hunt here for Grem. I already have the eggs for him, I just have to find some kind of special treat that I can put in there for him. Maybe m&m's or something, he loves them, but chocolates and junks are reserved for special occasions only... Easter sounds like the perfect excuse to let him eat junkies.

Its great to live in a country and belong to BYC where you can believe and celebrate any day anyway you want and other folks are ok with that.

The Reeses eggs are great but stale Peeps are still my faves. And I need one more excuse to eat Rice Crispie treats so I always make a batch of those & cut them out in egg shapes.

My sister had the same problem and finally just started telling everyone that if they wanted to see her daughter they could come over at a certain time for a casual brunch. Even though she had to plan some food ( sometimes it was potluck) she was a lot less stressed than running around and some came , some didnt , it was much easier for her.

To the original poster: So it won't be your traditional Easter... but you will be with your family. Bring some element from your easter's past into the day and make a new memory.

OK, say what you want, but I say Easter is about, The Father,The Son, and The Holy Spirit! And it is about how Jesus rose from the dead,

"....Born of the Virgin Mary, Sufferred under Pontius Pilot, was Crucified, died and was buried...."

Jesus saves!

oh and Christmas is CHRISTmas....see that....

I believe in the Trinity,

I am going to be confirmed this month so I believe that spreading the Gospel is the right thing to do.....

Holidays are getting harder for me every year. I miss my family, who live in NY. They're all real big on holidays, which is how I was raised. When I first moved out here and got married I went all out too, but I dont think my husband even noticed other than to grumble about the higher electric bill at Christmas. I always wanted kids, but I guess God didnt want me to have any, and I'm not sure how I feel about pursuing other ways if it's not in his plan for me. So holidays are realllll quiet now. I have a few realistic looking eggs hanging from a boquet of pussy willows on the table but that's all the decorating I've done. I might do a bit tomorrow. And I do have chicks hatching easter weekend. I work easter night. I guess I'll make a Ham, and thank God for everything I do have, and for his sacrifice, and that will be my easter.
