is anyone else a Nativity scene/statue addict ?

I'm thinking the new candle holder one I can keep out all year. I suppose I could burn incense cones in it, too, if I wanted, but that may stain it, would rather just do candles.

Harley's girl :

We set out at least...the very least 3 every Christmas. I want my girls to know the true meaning to Christmas!

I used to babysit this little girl who was about 4 years old, One year I bought her a child's nativity set - was unbrekable, so she could play with it and move the figures where she wanted. She loved it.

I was just telling FrChuck on the KY thread that I like the different looking ones - the hand carved, or different material ones. I'd love to have one of the olive wood hand carved folk art looking ones I've seen on ebay. Don't think I could justify that kind of money to hubby, though - I already made him buy me a 70 dollar St. Michael statue

It is a very pretty statue, though

I've been trying to hint to my family to give me nativities when they run across them at yard sale, flea markets and the like - who needs brand new, just get me some nice used ones for Christmas, I'll be happy

(heck, I'd even pay them to keep their eyes peeled for some for me - they always forget to look for them, though).

I'd love to find a ncie one with all the animals and such - none of my sets have animal figures.

I just drug out one that I don't remember who gave to me and whether they made it or bought it, but it's a Southwest style nativity with Indians. It's cute, but a couple of pieces have the feather broken off or something, nothing major, but little dings. I was going to put it on Ebay last year and forgot all about until I saw this thread. Now I'm frantically digging out all the Christmas stuff I was going to sell lol!

My mom was an artist and made a beautiful 61-piece ceramic nativity scene that won some awards. If I'd known she was going to be gone at age 54 I would have asked to have it, but by that time it was gone who knows where.

I won a new nativity on ebay last night, it is ceramic, has an antiqued finish - it's a small set (in size) but it is nice.

There is one in carved wood that looks like it needs some major love - been left out in the snow or rain, I think, definately needs some oil rubbed into the wood. If I didn't think hubby would have a hissy fit, I'd buy it just to fix it up a bit.

As it is, he asked me last night how many Nativities do I really need.

I simply asked him how much WW2 memorabilia he needs. He shut up after that.
