Is Blackjack 57 safe?

Just ordered a can of black jack 57 from ace hardware. I have high hopes after reading the posts here. I have a small coop with only 6 hens that will be in it. They are about 5 weeks old now and hopefully will be ready to go out by the time my coop floor dries. I was able to order a can that was 3.6 quart since I only need a small amount and wasn't sure how well it keeps. This says it covers 50 sq ft and I only have about 37 sq ft to cover. Wish me luck!

You will be pleased. Put mine down 16 months ago, and except where the chickens go in and out the door, it has held up really well.

Would like to know if the blackjack rubber would be safe inside a duck coop walls only. I know ducks are more sensitive to odors from chemicals. We have our coop built out of trex decking for outer shell and inside is the pressed composit wood we got for free. Want to protect the walls as the floor is trex that we pop out for cleaning. The idea is to be able to take the hose to it after we remove the floor for each cleaning. And would it make sense to coat the trex flooring or is trex durable enough to withstand all the poo and cleanings for many years to come? Thanks!
I used it on my duck coop - it was coming up in a matter of weeks - just too much moisture.

I wonder if something went wrong with the application. BJ57 is actually meant for water situations on a roof.
Maybe, but a roof is a very different situation than a duck coop - roofs are designed so that the water runs off. They don't have wet bedding sitting on top of them.

I think it would have been fine in the chicken coop.

Right, and that's probably exactly what happened... the real problem is that my ducks are gross, and I can't seem to figure out a food/water distribution system that they don't turn into some sort of slimy slip-and-slide.

what did you find most successful as an applicator for the floor, walls, and all around the framing?

Being in the 30s F now I should wait for a warm spell to apply it, correct?

I actually found that I had to use a regular paint brush, I tried a paint roller but it wouldn't work for me, couldn't get it smooth and yes wait for warm weather. I believe the can says 75* or higher and sunny or it won't dry very well. I found a one gallon can from ace hardware online. Really good value and well worth the price!
