I am new to chickens, we have 8 10 week old chickens (3 EE, 3 Buff Orpingtons and 2 Barred Rocks). We hope we have all hens but was wondering about Brandy. Brandy is an EE with tuffs on either side of the face, no spurs or comb because of the breed. However the tail and bold personality makes me wonder about the sex. Is it too soon to tell? I thought I posted this yesterday but can't find it today.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah, we were thinking that Henrietta may be a Henry. These are better pics of her (him?) Henrietta is Our most personable chicken, also the most assertive.

How can you tell?

Okay, really. Easter eggers are fairly easy to sex by color. Yours is female color, no large/red comb, no hackle or saddle feathers starting.
Your Henry has a large, red comb for the age of the bird. He also had thicker legs, and looks to be getting some darker shading on the wing, which is classic male coloring.

Thanks, I guess we will amend Henrietta's name to Henry. Hope we can keep him and we don't have any rooster problems. We are sure all the rest are girls.

Donrae. Those are not my chicks. I just asked that question in a hope to learn. If it seemed like a basic question sorry.
