is bread bad for chickens?

Mine are particularly fond of my Asiago-Sundried Tomato bread

Mine get leftover cornbread and white bread. I cut back in the summer but they get it all winter. My grandma's hens ate bread all the time. I think we ften get too uptight about what we allow them to eat. Bread should be fine.

There is a guy near here who feeds his numerous chickens almost nothing but old bread, which gets on a regular route from grocery stores and bakeries who would otherwise throw it away. His feed costs are so low he sells eggs for $1 / doz. (up from $.75 due to the price of gas on his pickup route). And his chickens seem to thrive on it.

My rooster loves hamburger bun breads i feed him everyday along with chicken feed, cat food, dried mealworms, grapes, sweet can corn & he's fine..Maybe i shouldn't feed him his bread everyday.. Hmmmmm

I've been wondering about feeding bread also. My chickens just don't seem to care for the store bought chicken feed. They love whole wheat bread !

I too read somewhere that its not good and was told they won't lay eating it , but I put out a heap of scraps an bread is the one thing they can't get enough of , is good to see so many people still have healthy chooks that lay well . Now I know I can give them something they love so much .
