Is chick starter bad for laying hens?

Is it bad if laying hens eat chick starter (broiler)? A couple of my hens seem to prefer it. They always try to get at my pullets feed through the coop wire and sometimes eat the leftovers even though they have their own food.

I've been wondering the same thing, my hens won't touch their feed until they are sure they can't get anymore spill from my chicks.

They will be just fine in it..

Have free choice oyster shells handy so the hens can get it as needed. If you still have chicks keep feeding the starter until they get to the 18 week stage then mix layer in with it until the starter is gone. By that time the hens should be accustom to the layer feed.

it should be fine for them i always feed all my chickens the same feed..if i have chicks they ll eat starter..so on until they all are up to the same adult feed

also if the chick feed is medicated you shouldnt eat the eggs..was told it could do harm..
if not medicated feed its ok..
