A bit of wood ash is okay, or just let them do their thing in the dirt. We put some ashes out there sometimes, and haven't had a problem.

I haven’t seen a chicken dust bathe in wet soil. Thanks for your reply. When wood ash gets wet it becomes caustic, doesn't it? It's how lye is made. Could I put a small amount in the dust bath, or maybe activated charcoal?
Whenever I fill up their feeder I like to do 2 to 3 big cupfuls of corn then just take a little bit in my fingers and sprinkle it in then mix it up, then I repeat. How do you feed your chickens?
No problem at all! Happy to help!I use these feeders that I posted a pic of. Thank you so much. I think I might figure it out from here.
Oh my...this is not true.I kills certain types of parasites at the source... in their stomach and bowels. I know of some chickens who have died from having parasites in them, so it's really good to give it to them if you want to keep them really healthy.
Don't buy it.I am conflicted. Some reports say that DE is safe for chickens and some say it is not because it causes respiratory problems. Can you of you more experienced chicken owners straighten me out on this issue?
Please don't add DE to their feed.I use these feeders that I posted a pic of. Thank you so much. I think I might figure it out from here.
