Good question. I don’t think so... should I consider that inside my yard?

I would.
Make your coop/run combo all coop, then put it in a secure run.
Free ranging is great, until it's not.
Best to have a secure place to keep them safe if needed,
or wanted(errant egg laying, too.much.poop, garden destruction, etc).
