pullet, dark front of legs, the comb is identical to my barred rock pullets, no saddle feathers as far as i can see, plus the pullets are more black than white, the roo's are opposite, that is certainly a more black bird
 
And that is why I keep going back and forth on her/him!
The darkness makes me think hen, and the comb roo!
Guess we will just have to wait for an egg or a crow!

Rooster. The barred EE type males are darker than a pure BR or Marans rooster so you can't sex them by the color factor like you can BRs. BR males have two barring genes, but a BR/EE cross will have only one, making him darker. (hopefully, I didn't mess up that explanation).

See this chick? He is a Silver Phoenix/ BR cross. Had two other brothers. We weren't aware they were crosses and at first, thought they were BR pullets....till the combs turned bright red at five weeks old.

Here is one of my own BR/Ameraucana cross cockerels--see how dark he is? Has one barring gene from his daddy and naturally, none from his mom.
