Is Duck Good Meat?

I used to duck hunt when I was younger and was raised hunting them. I am not sure of domesticated ducks but wild ducks are very good and tasty. They have more fat content than the white meat of chicken so it has a more rich taste.

you could go to the store and buy a small duck and see if you like it. when i have made roast duck i slice the skin on the bottom side so the fat drips out into the pan below. oh and put in on a wrack to keep it out of its grease;)

Duck - Yummm! Last year we rotisseried a extra mallard drake. He was very good. We have Scovies this year. Very good, tasted like Sirloin beef, though less fatty than the mallard. If you like dark meat then you will like duck ... but... I will caution you... if you buy a duck fm the grocery store it will be much greasier than a home grown duck. Not as tasty either, so we found.

It all just depends on your personal tastes. I have never liked the taste of duck, but other people in my family just love it.

Well i would be trying one of my extra boys, I know someone that will butcher them for me, they eat duck all the time. I've heard mixed reviews about it, but mostly that scovy is less greasy and its a lot of dark meat. I will have to try grilling it, that sounds Really good!

thanks everyone.

I'm nervous about duck, though. I had sheep and then attempted to eat lamb chops from the store, just couldn't do it. Something about the taste.
