is duck poo poisonous to dogs and cats?

I was also wondering if the feces of ducks or chickens will harm dog/cats. I have 2 ducks, their pond is a small turtle (their choosing) and I dumping it nightly and fill it with fresh water in the morning. Both our cats and dogs drink out of it, as do my chickens.... Glad to hear it isnt going to kill them, It would be pretty hard to prevent them from doing so since my ducks and chickens hang with the cats and dogs...

Mine would surely be dead by now since I've had ducks over 10 yrs and my dogs have always loved their poop and are very partial to the chicken poop. as you say very hard to prevent them from eating it.

My bigger dog occasionally drinks the duck pond water out of their little child-size pool, but he's never been ill. It's very infrequent because we taught the dogs to leave the kiddie pools alone, but on occasion, I see him with a wet, stinky snout lol. My mother has two dogs that always get into the pools when they're over to visit, so I can't imagine it's deadly. Might make them queazy, but they wouldn't keep drinking it if they felt terrible every time they drank it.

Never heard of that. I have tow dogs and tow cats and raised ducks for almost 4 years. Never killed mine. I know cat urine is very toxic

Like everyone else with pets who drink the duck water, mine would have been dead ages ago. Stagnant water can carry salmonella, etc., but water that nasty is going to make your ducks sick as well. As long as it is fresh (fresh being a relative term given just how fast ducks foul water), it won't hurt your pets or your ducks to drink it.

Duck poo is not poisonous to dogs, but some ducks are carriers of salmonella and that can cause diarreah in "pampered" dogs who haven't been allowed to forage and get into trouble naturally.

I agree with everyone else. Given that most dogs, like mine, drink out of the worlds nastiest puddles full of road runoff, slugs, algie, and all sorts of fecal matter from squirrels, racoons, birds of flight...and basically any other substance that can make water disgusting I don't worry too much about my dog drinking water from a duck pond here and there.

Nah, you should be okay. I mean, if your pooch has a taste for the stuff then I'd worry about his mental state, LOL! However the opposite isn't the case, under no circumstances should you allow ducks to eat cat poop! And preferably dog poop, but cat poop is definitely a problem.
