Is everyone ready for Christmas?

I'm done too, only because we are keeping it simple this year. Only a few presents each, my kids are teenagers and really are fine with a simple Christmas. The baking is done so goody baskets are going to be make this weekend and delivered the the friends and neighbors. I bought the turkey last month and my friend offered to take it home and put it in a smoker, so we are having a simple dinner with smoked turkey sandwiches and some of GrayRoo's awesome cranberry salad, plus a few other good things...we really scaled it down this year. I asked my kids if they could remember what they got last Christmas and basically we all struggled to remember...it brought home the fact that the gifts while nice are not what this is all about.

Merry Christmas everyone, don't sweat it if it's not perfect, just enjoy your day.

I am done......house decorated...coop lights up, just havent lit them yet..yard lights up, but standing in water now with all the rain, so I cant turn them on. Last night we had our family christmas party, with the out of towners. ( all the city folk) They all came to our house, its the half way point, and we have plenty room and parking. The greatest part was...after the food, presents, and everyone was settling down a bit, I checked on the incubator...and had a pip!! These eggs are from a broody that gave up, so I have NO IDEA when they are due. Well...my family members all make fun of me and my chickens....but you should have seen the tears, when they witnessed a hatching baby!! Yeah..."this uneducated, partially uncivilized redneck farmer" Showed them what taking life slow and easy is all about!! Funny to see a city girl cry with joy, seeing a hatching egg. HA HA!Now....presents are bought for the kids and grandkids...packages in the mail...im all ready...oh..waite...I dont have the Christmas dinner!! Off to town tomorrow!!

Not at all! I wanna kick whomever stole my spirit! I just can't get into it this year. My kids have been such little #$$^&$$%^^$##@@'s we told them their getting nothing and that Santa isn't coming this year. You'd think that would change em, but nope!

I am probably the only one here that is wishing Christmas would get here and be done with. I am just completely Christmas out! I think it is because it has started way to early this year, I mean decorations and etc were up in the stores before Halloween and the stores are already running out or having 50% sales on decor already! I guess it is because I am in a really low mood right now. Christmas can be a trying time for some. Maybe it has to do with the lack of money or the fact there has been several murders here where ex family members have killed someone. I mean this ex wife and her current husband conspired to have her ex husband killed and now not only are these kids don't have a father, their mother is going to prison for this and to top it off it is Christmas time. I am sorry to bring this up. I am having a very blue Christmas.

I hear ya hot wings. I just am not in the Christmas spirit either. Nothing as tragic as what you mentioned but we have lost a few close family members this year and I have just been blahh about christmas. If it weren't for the kids we wouldn't even be celebrating it this year. We really toned it down and have cut back on the gifts because the kids really don't remember what they got the year before and so it's mostly cookie making ( I'm forcing myself to do it) and christmas dinner and then life back to normal.

Hotwings, it's not just you.
I usually have all my decorating done Thanksgiving weekend and am usually done shopping by middle of December.
This year I just can't seem to get it together.
I just haven't had the motivation to get going and I really haven't worried about it either.

Bad things happen everyday thru out the year but it just seems that Christmas time makes you think about it more, especially when kids are involved.

Something everyone needs to remember is that we are all blessed and more fortunate than we think we are.

If you know of anyone less fortunate, help them out in any way you can,
It will do a world of good and you will have something to smile about.

I just bought Christmas for an 8 yr. old who otherwise wouldn't have had anything and the good feeling that comes from knowing I just put a smile on a child's face and relieved a lot of worrying from the parent just makes everything else seem to small and unimportant.
