is fluoride good for my chickens?

So.....to you guys that are "hooked" on the distilled water (or RO), do you find it disgusting to drink anything else?...... Even some fine pasta in an Italian restaurant would I assume be full of fluoride unless the restaurant uses RO or something (which Ive read can be a difficult thing to license).... I know Im already "hooked" on Brita and filtered and thought I was fine till someone told me Brita dosent filter fluoride, so hence my fluoride elimination knowledge search has begun.... How very reaffirming to know Im not alone in my craziness and search for perfect health. Isnt that what got alot of us started with chickens?

btw, I just read most baby foods have very high fluoride levels? what the....

You are not crazy at all, although I think some think I am with my obsession with water and what is in our food. I started down this road with the water about 5 years ago and to tell you the truth I do not even go out to restaurants any more. With knowing that most just use plain old tap water in everything from cooking to diluting tea and soda AND from years of watching Kitchen Nightmares I just do not go out anymore.

We are on a very very very tight budget in our house because of only one income (I am a full-time SAHM) food is about the only thing that I do not ever skimp on. We stopped buying pre-made food almost completely and while it is a bit more work it really is not that expensive if you can freeze or can your own stuff. Switching back to the "old lifestyle" is a bit time consuming and a little expensive in the beginning but once you have done it and everything you eat is fresh and homemade you will never want to go back. And you instantly can tell the difference btwn fresh made and pre-made mass produced.

As for the water, we take our water with us every where we go. The boys get their thermos cups and I usually take a big container for myself and DH. On those few rare occasions where we do go out to a restaurant on a family get together or something we have yet to have a restaurant tell us we cannot bring our water in with us.

Truthfully the thought of drinking anything but distilled water is horrifyingly gross. I am telling you, when you see what comes out of your water after it has been distilled you will NEVER drink anything else again.

And yes there is a ton of fluoride in just about everything you buy in the store, including baby formula and pre-made baby food. For us, trying to find fluoride free children's toothpaste was like the search for the Holy Grail in our area and I ended up having to buy it online. Even the so called fluoride free toothpastes you find in the store still have some fluoride in them, just not doses they are required to tell you about.
