I want to use it in my coop to put on bedding areas to prevent mites, etc. but the bag says it's Food Grade with Calcium Bentonite and can be used as a "clumping" agent... what is Calcium Bentonite and did I buy the wrong thing?

Well, I'm not too sure. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be here soon. What is the brand name?

It's called Red Lake Earth and has pictures of animals all over it, including chickens. It says "Diatomaceous Earth with Calcium Bentonite" and they assured me it was food grade DE. In fact it says on the bag its good for feeds.
