Is frostbite avoidable without electric heating? Should I add heat to my coop?

And I thought the midwest was dry! Thanks for posting this @ChickenShepherd_6116, I've learned something. It sounds like without spending a lot of money, frostbite will be unavoidable in your area. I am still confused as it is humid and wet here too, although it is colder here which probably helps dry things out.
Someone asked me once why it's so horribly humid up here, as people think it's more the balmy states. I had to look it up as I had no idea why. It's mostly from the crops, and corn is one of the most "humid" ones. It's also our proximity to the Great Lakes and we have a lot of big lakes, rivers, and streams here.

However, how does either explain our humidity in the winter? Right now it's -3°F (yes, negative 3) and the humidity is surprising low at 61%. It's often in the 70s. One would think when it's this cold, how could it be humid? That's for some weather person to explain!

It's dry in the summer! We have all for seasons here for sure. Before the temp drops, early winter is rain, rain, rain!
