i haven't got chickens yet but want to soon. i will have a coop in a fenced off run (for protection from predators). Inside this area there's a holly bush though, should i be worried that a chicken may be poisoned by eating a holly leaf or berry?

I don't know about Holly for chickens but, I've heard its poisonous to humans. I wouldn't take any chances, I would pull it out if possible

I have a number of holly bushes, osme of which make berries. My chickens used to scratch around under them routinely, for bugs, but never ate them that I saw, and never got sick from foraging. They are now in a fenced yard. There are certain weed plants that grow in there that they will not eat, but they keep the grasses eaten down. JME.

I have heard that the berries are potentially poisonous. Basically and confusingly meaning that sometimes they are and sometimes not, lol. There is the question however of if they are not poisonous to chickens, will the poison be passed on through the eggs and to the humans, who it is poisonous too. Just something to consider.
