Is Home Defense safe for chickens?

I don't spray the yard with anything, or use herbicides out there. However, sometimes it's necessary to treat inside, or around the foundation; termites, or bedbugs, or other noxious critters. Then, repellants won't be enough!
I don't understand 'chemical free' either. ???

I'm glad Permethrin works for you but me personally...well if I'm not going to risk the life of my chickens to prevent a few bugs I certainly won't risk my cat's life either
Sorry, I didn't realize you had a cat... usually it does come up as part of the conversation and the warning is put out there that it isn't safe for use in cats.

It's 100% safe for chickens and labeled for use ON them. And I don't use anything to "prevent a FEW bugs." I treat when needed to stop an infestation from taking place.

I personally care about the entire environment not JUST my house or animals... I would NEVER spray my back yard with anything and kill off all the bees etc... as asked in your first post.

It's funny that one chemical the home defense is acceptable but the one I mention is the devil somehow... a chemical is chemical is chemical.. organic or synthetic.. Some are less toxic than others.

Still from a friendly and sincere place I offered something that works... I didn't suggest you kill the cat. I suggested something I new was SAFE for chickens... as requested in your OP. ;)

We are also as "chemical free" as possible here. We live with our own septic system and well... everything we do goes into our ground and then our drinking water.

Friendly tones work best to keep a community awesome!

I concur. I didnt want this post to snowball into a discussion about the chemical. I just wanted to verify my suspicions about using home defense in my backyard where they free range. I am NOT for the use of Permethrin anywhere. Period. I think personally it should be more prevelant to people everywhere how harmful it is to cats. There are other things you can use to treat mites, fleas and ticks in chickens that are not harmful(spinosad). I recently found a place near me that sells spinosad for way cheaper than i could purchase it online and that is the only chemical I will be using to kill those pests for my chickens because I care about my other pet's health. I know Permethrin works well. It is a fine chemical that helps several chicken owners. I refuse to use it on our property. If you chose to do so it is your right to do so. But for me and mine...nope.
