Is increased water intake normal with cooler weather?

Good morning,

I got my first flock this year in March/April. They are all laying now and doing well. I always offer several waterers all around where they free-range and have noticed their water consumption has greatly increased as the weather has cooled, which seems counterintuitive to me. Is this normal chicken behavior?

Increased water intake may coincide with increase feed intake due to lower temps. I have noticed the same.
