I read in the manual that the temperature in my LG still air is supposed to be 99.5, but I have seen posts on here where people talk about temps being different in still air vs incubators with fans..?? Is 99.5 fine or should my temp be adjusted? And can I add a fan to my incubator while I have eggs in it or should I leave it as I set it for this hatch?? I set the eggs today (Saturday) and Tuesday my local store has a shipment of fans coming in, I am wondering if I should get a fan Tuesday and add it to my incubator. My incubator temp is fluctuating a bit, I wonder if it's because we burn wood for heat so our house is not a consistent temp.

We have the Little Giant incubator and right now it is just running (no eggs) to get the temp regulated.

I have not put water in the bottom, but wonder if I should?

Our temp in our house drops at night time (no heat on at night right now and we heat with baseboard electric. I also don't have a fan yet, may put one in today or tomorrow.

I think we are having the same issues, but ours just doesn't have eggs yet.

Will watch this thread!

I have one of these, I usually use it as my lock down, or brooder now.

I remember having to tweek the temp often. Yes, the temp is supposed to be around 99..but can be around 98. I just hatched out 5 out of 6 chicks in it, with the temp around 95, 96. I did have water in it..it seems to make the temp go up, but of course, we're talking lock down. Some people do dry incubating. I personally don't worry about the water once I've filled it in my air Hova. I put water in it when I see the humidity is down to 43 or so. Sometimes it just runs out before I put more in. I just make sure I have water in it for lock down, and have the humidity up to 65.
I have 20 barred rocks in my air Hova right now, ready to go into lock down this week. They are doing really well. Just filled the water again..only have done so about 5 times during the three weeks.

The still air..really warms up with the water, so you do need to watch the temp if you use water..because it will get warm in there.

A still air incubator will hatch eggs at 99.5 but to get the best out of it its better to have it around 101 measured at the top of the eggs.

This page may help. Still air incubators.

If you are careful you can put a fan in mid hatch but you have to watch it closely after.
