Is it a bad sign for an internal layer/ egg yolk peritonitis?

Fyi, heninthehouse, the white and yellow in the poop is urates. Pee. When it is white, it is ok. Sometimes it is clear too, which usually means runs. Sometimes yellow, which is not normal. The carmel colored stuff is cecal droppings. Usually that is more brown. Stinks. A chickens diet has a significant impact on the poop. All the yogurt and other human food is very likely affecting the poop.

Thank you for your thought, MrsBachbach. I have the another Leghorn chicken who eats the same food except the fermented raisins and yogurt.
The carmel colored stuff from Deckie don't smell like cecal poop, smell like rotten egg yolks. The other one also pooped like the caramel colored but it was darker with very strong smell other day.
I smell their droppings when I see them is bit abnormal, which my family think of me as a freak. Sometimes, I look into using a tooth pick to seek for more details.

Thanks again, MrsBachbach.

1/15/2014 Update: 13 days pasts since I stopped giving her Baytril for 5 days.

Last night : Her weight 2014g

Today, In the morning: Her weight 2034g

Deckie breathed harder in the morning. She slightly opens her mouth to breath.
I saw she was in labor..
I gave her 6ml liquid calcium and later, I gave her more of calcium pill, probably 300mg.

These are yesterday's:

That is probably urates?, as MrsBachbach mentioned above. It smelled strong pee as well.

It smelled like rotten egg yolk.

This is the other one's dropping yesterday. I thought that is something wrong.. but after that she has normal poops.
It smelled really bad..

It smelled rotten egg yolk.

There are today's morning:

It smelled rotten egg yolk.

After I bathed her, I put insert my finger into her vent. i didn't feel any bumps or any eggs.

She wanted to get my other chicken Bumpy who is in the dog crate while I was cleaning her bedding.

Although she was breathing heavier, somehow she tried to jump that was about 30 inches to get on the shelf.
but she couldn't, so I held her butt to help her.

I was reading the article of egg bounded birds, which is from Japanese avian vet.

When it is difficult to take the egg out, the vet sucked all of the egg yolk using a needle, and
break the egg and take out of all of the pieces.

%E6%91%98%E5%87%BA%E3%81%97%E3%81%9F%E5%8D%B5%E3%81%A8%E5%8D%B5%E7%AE%A1.JPG

That was for a little bird. the bird was treated by one avian vet,but she/ he didn't feel get any better, even worse.
so the owner brought her bird to the other vet and he could feel an egg in
side her,but it was very difficult to take it out naturally,
so he decided to break the egg after sucking out of the egg yolk.

Another picture of fluids inside of the bird's abdomen.
COD.JPG

when it is lighted like above, you can see get through, which means the bird has fluids.
the yellow part on the center that is the skin turned to yellow because cholesterol adhere to the skin and inflamed.
Could we do that for chickens to examine? I don't know..

Update:

I started to give Baytril to Deckie because she gains more and more every day. Yesterday: 2044g Today 2046g.
She breaths harder and harder but she doesn't open her mouth to breath though..but I felt that I needed to before it is too late.

Before giving her Baytril... I bathed her .. She was in there for over 40 minutes that she seemed very comfortable.

She pooped while she was in the bath tub.

Her poops are like the 2 pictures above.

After giving her Baytril ( 0.5ml), she breaths better..

I was sleeping holding her in the bath tub, when I opened my eyes, Deckie's beak was right in front of my nose, that surprised me. She has stared at me, I wonder?

LoL, thinking about how shes going to peck you. :) my hen grabbed my lips and got me bleeding. They can be fast.

You could give her aspirin for pain, i see people on here giving aspirin, I just don't know the dose.

Edited to add;
I found info about what others suggest with Aspirin dose, "Low dose 81mg or a reg 325mg,dose is 25mg per lb of body weight"

Hensinthehouse, it is my understanding that an eggbound hen is a different matter than an internal layer. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you would be getting egg yolk in her droppings if she is an internal layer. If she is eggbound and the egg has broke inside of her vent, then yes and antibiotics would be in order to prevent infection. I believe an internal layer deposits egg yolk into her abdomen instead of where it should go. Some chickens can absorb the yolks from what I have read. I'm not sure if antibiotics would be in order in that case. Maybe so. I do know antibiotics have a significant impact on their droppings and that could explain the runny droppings. Some probiotics would be in order after giving her a round of antibiotics. I still say limit her exposure to light.

Thank you for the information,MrsBachbach.

Yes, I understand about it. Egg bound and internal layer is a different matter as you said. I just put it on for reference just as I sometimes mention about Bumpy who has had pendulous crop in here. Sorry for mixing them up. I was really fascinated with the Japanese avian vet who showed a lot of surgeries to fix birds. '

I don't know... I just know that she is feeling better after giving Baytril to her. And, yes. I keep her in the dark room most of the time, which is very effective.

Symptoms of egg yolk peritonitis include:
  • loss of appetite/anorexia
  • weakness
  • depression
  • respiratory distress
  • lethargy
  • fluffed feathers
  • yolk-colored droppings
  • swollen vent and/or abdomen (the swelling feels spongy to the touch)

I will not necropsy when she dies for sure. So, I will not know what kind of illness she has been suffering.

<I do know antibiotics have a significant impact on their droppings and that could explain the runny droppings.

Yes, I agree. but her poops are kind of runny every morning even though she was not in the medication.

Only I really know is she has some green fluids, and egg yolk inside of her by checking (smelling ) her poops.
believe or not, I just smell of eggs.
I do not know what kind of medicines I should use, therefore I am here to ask your help. :)

I am little frustrated so I don't think that I am writing well. Sorry...
