Is it a bad sign for an internal layer/ egg yolk peritonitis?

<<BTW, I think your hen's poop is starting to look more normal, so maybe the penicillin is starting to work? If it is starting to work I don't think you need to switch to the Baytril, but this is where the <<advice from a vet would be best.

Hmm... Here is today's her droppings, and herself. She looks fine.

Her poops went back to the yesterday's that I was worried about her having back up. Stringy stool...

Her droppings are firmer now but still greenish.

Her abdomen is much smaller now.
As Kathy said, Penicillin is working. but I have the penicillin for one more day left.
I will give her Baytril when I get it, which will be here by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

11/28/2013 Update:

Last night

6:00am.. I gave her a penicillin tablet (250mg).

6:10am..

Giving her a bath with 2 Respiratory Balance tea bags and oats for 20 minutes.

After the bath, she wanted to poop it out, but she couldn't. So, I inserted my finger with a glove inside of her vent, then the poop came out.

Now, she is still laying down.

The lady who has goats and roosters and hens told me that flush out her vent is good for her if I use mix up with warm water and lubricate like KY jelly..
but she can't get the right amount of them because her computer is crushed so she can't get to see that.
Warm water : Ky jelly = 5:1 ? I don't know... I will insert the liquid into her vent about 6ml... ??

Are there anybody know about this? Her vet told her that the method doesn't hurt birds even though if we use for a long time of period.

I haven't read this entire thread..... But I certainly am impressed by your determination to save your hen. Has anyone suggested restricting her light hours per day in order to shut her reproductive tract down?

I am not sure that is a good idea, but is the only idea I have. I would love to hear input on this.

Keep up the hard work and happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you for your kind words, enola!

Thank you for your thought, too.

Yeah, I read about the light restriction hours on the other thread, as well as giving her more grain than calcium.

I keep her in a darker room mostly, but I let her to walk around in the living room for fun for 1 hour too. I am not sure if I am doing right.

I stop giving her egg shell powder because she avoided to eat it when I checked.

Thank you again, and a happy Thanksgiving too!

Heya
Just wanted to say I'm routing for you both. I've been looking at a few things on the web relating to your problems and I noticed that for her condition and possible peritonitis they are mentioning something called the Suprelorin implant that will stop her laying, giving her body a rest and a chance to absorb the fluid. They say if done early enough, this can be very successful.
I have no idea of cost but restricting light will be a very good start.

Very best wishes x

Hi Shabana,

Thank you for the information about the Suprelorin implant. It sounds very effective indeed.

I am researching about it, but it is costly more than having a hysterectomy, I wonder.
On the other hand, the Suprelorin is not risky as much as having a hysterectomy.

I really appreciate for spending your time to thinking of my chicken!

Thank you so much again!

Best wishes to you and your family!!

Update: 11/28/2013 In the afternoon.

Egg whites??

The tip of her comb gets purple today. I couldn't take the picture because she was too active...

At 5:30pm I gave her the last penicillin.
