It was the big red comb at his age. Girls don't start developing their combs until they are almost ready to lay, usually about 14 to 18 weeks old. Anything with a bright pink comb before 10 weeks old is a boy.

Hi! I'm so new to chicken keeping! I was told this is a mixed cuckoo maran and amaraucana mix. He/she is a bit aggressive and often has a stare down with my roo. What do you guys think is it a he or a she. He/she is the biggest in my flock of 5 and they are all 16 weeks old.[/URL]![]()
