Is it alive?

So long story short... my hen gave up on this egg. I brought it inside and managed to keep it alive (saw it moving) for many days. Then I put it in lockdown and left for Thanksgiving. I don’t know the exact day as it started with a broody hen. When it started to completely fill the egg I put it in lockdown. I came home from Thanksgiving trip and decided to candle and see if it popped. This is what I saw... I was so sad because I was sure it was no longer viable. The gathered blood toward the air cell and the fact that it now has so much space where previously there was none. When I rotate the egg to the other side the chick is totally pushed up against the air cell, in fact the previous straight line of air cell is slightly warped, but I see no pip. I was convinced it was gone, but then I took a quick video to view to confirm I hadn’t missed any movement and I swear I see very faint twitching. Now I am really confused. Is it possible that the chick has fully absorbed yolk and that’s why I see the strange gathering of blood and so much space now? Please help.

Thank you for the welcome. I’m not sure of anything. I can’t say I had the egg and candler on the ground. So the only thing that could have moved is my hand holding the camera, but I saw the twitch happen when I was taking the video, so I don’t think I shook. I have a terrible incubator, it’s the still air little giant. I have a trusted thermometer next to the exact position of the egg. Currently it’s reading 99.1 with 67.5 percent humidity. But the heat has been pretty consistent at 99.5-99.7. I did place a humidifier in the small room it’s in, so that the humidity wouldn’t change so drastically if I opened the incubator.

I use this incubator. :D

I think the twitch you saw might be the chick but I'm afraid it's on its way out.
I keep my humidity around 30% and I don't up it until I see an external pip and then I only up it to no more than 50%.

Welcome to BYC!

I only said terrible Because it appears to get terrible reviews. I have never hatched an egg. I didn’t intend to hatch this one. I literally bought an incubator for this egg, I’m that lady who finds an abandoned egg and purchases day old chicks for friends and an incubator. Haha

Hi there, welcome to BYC! :frow

That egg does not appear to have a viable embryo in it to me.

Being described as once full... this looks like draw down from the embryo degrading after passing. :hmm

Can you upload your moving video to youtube or vimeo and post a link here to see if we can see what you are with the movement?

I also have still air styrofoam bator... I love it.

Did you hen have any eggs hatch? :fl
