Is it better to have roosts high up or down low?

I think I am going to lower my roosts....mine might be at 3+ft. now The issue is the landing space/area/strip. I have a platform for them to hop down to but they don't seem confident enough. And there is just not enough room for them to flap and land easily in my opinon

thanks for the tip! right now they have covered cat litter pans they seem to be happy with

I think my chickens preferr to have high roost .. my highest one is 8 ft high and about 8 ft across.

but you probably have a good landing strip area.....

There's a general rule- the heavier the hen, the lower the roost, to avoid injuries.
