Something about spring has just brought out my wild urges for BABIES!!! And of course everywhere I go, I see nothing but BABIES!! from flowers and bulbs sprouting, to kittens to puppies, goats, baby birds...I hear the frog songs, and picture all the tadpoles in my front field.... But NOTHING is worse than all the chicks at the feed stores, and the ones I am seeing offered online...AND I want them all!!! I've browsed almost every breeder and hatchery catalog, just looking for the one thing that I could rationalize to DH, and then of course keep the other 24 selected breed "peanuts" LOL.

I also find myself SOOO close to "pushing the button" on those egg auctions...and I don't even have an incubator. I guess I figure I'd sit on them for 3 weeks. I'm sure my boss wouldn't miss me. My kids my get a bit hungry during "lockdown", but DH can cook mac n cheese. Its not enough that I have twelve babies in my living room, in XL rubbermaid brooders. I'm just thinking ahead.... in a couple weeks, they'll be outside, and I won't have any more chicks!!!

I'm down to my last ounce of sanity...and my willpower is fading. I need some suggestions. How do I get through spring??

Isn't there any kind of intervention? Medications? Aromatherapy? Does Yankee Candle make a "Sweet Chick n Pine Shaving" scent? Seriously? there's no hope?

Me too, but it does feel pretty hopeless. I don't even have chocolate cravings like this!!! Its BAAADDDD!! LOL.

There is no cure! It's a curse!!! I am 90+ on birds and now 80+ on eggs!!! That chicken math will get ya!

I have 11, 3mo old barred rock babies in the grow out pen. I have 10, 6 week old red and black sex link pullets in my big brooder. And just because......I have 2 standard cochin and 2 tiny bantam chicks in my tote brooder. They are 1 week old. They look like Mutt and Jeff and get along just fine.

I still have one more small brooder that is empty, I guess if I find anything I just can"t live without.....

I have my second run ready but still need to build the coop. I just love trying out all the different breeds and an eclectic flock is so pretty. My favorite hens so far are the Missouri super egg machine #365 from Marti poultry. They are white and lay a white egg. I am on a mission to find a brown egg layer that compares to them.

All of these to be added to my established flock of 11 hens and 3 roosters. I have scaled back this year, last year between my daughter and I we ordered 80 chicks.

Yep! You've definitely gone broody... so have I...
I've got my chicks I hatched of course.... waiting on a lady to confirm more baby chicks....
I have 2 pairs of Bettas I want to spawn.... The male I really want to breed is not blowng any more bubblenests at them moment... I think its NDS (Nest Disruption Syndrome)... but we do have a pretty young male that has decided he is old enough to blow a big nest, so I've decided to put him and his wife in the spawning tank tonight... Because I just have to have Babies, now! If the first male (with NDS) finally decides hes ready... Ive been trying to figure out a solid way to devide the spawning tank... so I can have 2 spawns at the same time! Errrrrrr Hahahahaha!
Maybe the cure is a human baby? Or would the human baby then *need* day old chicks to play with, every day... and baby fishies... and a young puppy... and a mini horse.... and a wallaby..... perhaps a peacock?
Maybe... you know.... just help the hubby understand.. this disorder needs appeasement.. before he has wallabies hoppng about the house? I know where you can get some...

Yes, there IS a cure -- just wait it out for a few months until the chicks are grown and crowing

In the meantime, collect a few tadpoles -- at least they are quiet until they are mature --

It's the bunnies that are my weakness -- and they 'stay cute' even when they are grown --

we'll be waiting for an update on your latest acquisitions --
