Is it common????

Is it common for a chicken to become egg bound after their first molt. My chicken laid just fine for the first year of her life. They have been molting for the past couple of months. This morning when I saw her I thought she might be trying to lay an egg. It has been hours and nothing has come out yet and she is acting off. She didn't go out today to free range. Is it common when they start to lay again to have problems? What signs should I look for to know if this is what is going on with her or not?

Hey Michelle!

I have only had one egg bound hen and she became eggbound actually during a bad moult. I could not save her. She showed signs of trying to press an egg out but nothing ever came out. We did the bath and the oil and all that but I believe the egg broke inside her
