Is it easier to raise 8 or 15 chicks?

The amount of labor is no different, you still need to feed and water daily. Are you looking for eggs or meat? Pullets or straight run? You would surely be able to sell or give away extra pullets, but not always easy to get rid of cockerals. Food for thought. Personal preference for me would be the larger number.

Your first introduction to chicken math and chicken rationalization. 8=15, see it's easy to learn! a 250w bulb will cost the same to heat 1 chick or 25, repeat after me 1=25. You can learn chicken math it's easy. After 10 it gets a little hard to count so you sneak in 5 - 10 more. 10=15 or 10=20, whichever sum makes you happier. All chickens poop a lot. If you have a lot of chickens then it means the piles of poop are easier to scoop up, they are already piled for you! This is called chicken rationalization.

It's easier to raise 6 than 8. But once you get into it you'll want 15 instead of 10. Next thing you know the barnyard is overrun with chickens. Worse that rabbits. But the good part is rabbits don't lay eggs. Our chickens do.

Go for it! 15 is not that hard. My only advice is to get a few different types of chickens if possible. You will have a heck of a time checking for pasty butt on 15 identical chickens

Your next order you will be contemplating 25 instead of 15
