Is it gonna die?! HELP PLEASE **PIC ADDED** ITS DIED :(

As it had pipped and started to zip before i helped it out, would this have happened anyway? had it pipped to early then? should i wrap it in a warm cloth to protect it or is it gonna die anyway?

sorry for so many questions, i'm a born again hatcher!

Sometimes they do pip very early and they may want to rest in the shell for at least a day if not two. It was too eager to get out. There is not much you can do about it now, what you are seeing is the yolk sac that was not adsorbed. At that size I say it needed to rest in the shell at least another 12 hours if not more for it to have gone in.

For future reference, if the egg is unzipping, let the chick do it themselves, since I think they can "feel" they are not ready and even if they did unzip partially, would have stopped and waited longer. Now if your egg unzips and gets tipped upside down and stops moving, then do intervention. Otherwise, it's best to wait.

I personally don't think it will be able to make it.

when a chick starts to pip it can take up to 24 hours to fully come out of the shell depending on the chick I have made this mistake when I first started raising chickens it may make it I would keep it in the incubator till it is fully dry (fluffy) by then hopefully the yolk sac will be gone if it isnt I am sorry to say that it probably wont make it but they have been know to make full recoveries so I will keep your lil baby in my thoughts.

I had one chick that pipped half the shell and didnt do anymore after 24 hours...then I helped it out of the shell...it had yolk sac outside of the body and I knew it will not survive. It is pretty frutile to save chicks like that.....

just checked on it and its still the same, (alive, breathing well and chirping) i wrapped it in a warm damp clean cloth to protect it from the other chick thats bouncing off everything (thats fluffing up nicely already) so we'll see if it survives the night.

This had happend to me the first time I tried incubating eggs. And most were hatched out like this. UNfortunatly the died as your may to. I done a lot of research and found that the humidity was to high and the chicks stuck to the egg shell and then pulled the yolk back outside of thier bodies, or were forced to pip to early and didnt pull the yolk up in its body. Sorry to be the bearor of bad news, but I cant almost bet that it wont survive.Sorry.:aww I would try to get your humidity down a little so hopefully the rest will hatch out fine. Good luck.
