Is it just me or.....?

First winter and their poop is FREEZING to the poop boards!!!! It's even freezing to the PDZ we have in the poop boards!! LOL. Is it just me or is this a problem with everyone else. haha it's like cement by the time I get out in the morning to scrape it off. It takes all the man power in me.

What if you sprinkle a layer of shavings over the boars and change every few days? Compost the shavings? I’m just brainstorming. I don’t use boards because of my coop’s design.

Its not a big problem for me just more work in the morning that's all. Once spring comes around were gonna now what to do and what not to do for next winter. I'm going to get more PDZ and replace the old with the new. We have a small coop for 7 birds but its big enough for them to not to be that crowded. Plan was to get 4 but ended with 7 haha

I use an old painters tool and a hammer. I pre-scrape the boards then scoop with a metal cat litter scoop. It adds an extra 4 minutes for 30 birds and about 44 sq ft of poop boards.

I find the frozen chunks of poop easier to scoop. They look like drop cookies rolled in oats. Easier to dump, because they don't stick to the sides of the bucket.

I use the sam things but my cat liter thing is plastic

Same but i only like them when there not frozen to the wood or sunk down close enough to the bottom of the board to freeze there haha

Is your board just bare wood?
Most pop off the vinyl I have, but not always....especially the juicy ones.

I use an ice scraper and get good at dodging frozen turds.
