OK...it's disturbing although my kids find it very amusing....my Roo does the mating dance as soon as he sees me...he runs up to me fluffs his feathers drags his wing and kicks it....the first time he did this I panicked and kicked him ( not hard ) just enough to get him away from me, it was scary!...he does this very same thing to his girls...this "dance"

Once I bent down to get them water and he was sneaking up behind me running, I think to try and mate...I stood up and it scared him so he jumped in the air and walked off....

He will also try and call me over to see the food he's found....ANYWAYS...anyone else with this problem? I don't want him thinking I'm a chicken, but it's better then him wanting to attack I guess....He doesn't like anyone else, he'll chase them, but if they are with me he will leave them alone...

ok, thanks for listening!

I've got one that runs to me, will even run along the fence and talk to me. But he doesn't do the mating dance at me. !!

mine dance all day.. but be careful.. after you have ignored his little dance routine he will try harder and start to bite you... i have to smack him once in a while. he is quick and sometimes i have been bit before i even know he is there while petting one of his other hens. since he has finally started mating he seems to have calmed down a little bit. but still dances around me. i think it isn't always mating i think it is a little dominance over you too

Well, to me this is just typical male behavior. Feed em', talk to em', take care of their basic needs, and I don't care if its feather, fur or skin, they all think the same thing!!! Gimme love!!!!!!!

When I was growing up, the gander used to think I was his favorite lady. Mating dance, protective behavior,, e works. Even tried to follow me onto the school bus.

Laugh, it helps cover the embarrassment.
