Our 2.5 year old previous super egg-producer Barnevelder is really struggling. At first I thought it was just an oddly-timed winter moult (Sydney Australia) but then she got sicker with a very pale shrivelled comb/wattle, green diarrhoea, still eating but then not moving much and falling asleep wherever she sat. I brought her inside, she was unable to stand for the first two days but then she got better, her poo became more normal, and after several more days she was back outside to join the others. We discovered red mites in the coop so did a thorough clean-out with a pesticide and then again 10 days later, also did a worming just in case. I thought we had fixed the problem. Her feathers were growing and she looked more healthy again (still not laying though). But now she is back to not looking well again, moulting feathers everywhere again and one of her wattles is all shrivelled up. Two of our other 4 chickens haven't laid one egg for a couple of months now although they look healthy enough, the other is laying but just gone broody. I thought it might be because it was winter but after googling "shrivelled wattle" I came up with this disease and, oh no, I don't want it to be true but it's looking like not only is she sick with it but that the others could be infected too because of the red mites. Please tell me its not true!!??? Could it be something else?

I'm not that familiar with this particular disease. I think there are others who may know more about LL. @Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock @rebrascora

Did you ever find out if this is lymphoid leukosis? How did things turn out? I currently have a rooster that is exactly as you describe and it has been on-going. He starts looking better and then goes down hill. His crop fills with fluid so was treating for sour crop but then it seems to clear and fluid goes down and he seems a bit perkier but I can feel marble-like tumors in the crop and no-one else seems to feel that way. Would love to hear how yours went.

After this long since the OP posted this thread, a year and a half, and not having posted anything on this site since, it's not too likely we'll hear anything new.
