Is it me, or is this being chintzy?

I'd take it. He's knowledgeable, and selling bantams can be a real PITA.

I just loathe the buyers that ask for something different to what you've advertised; 'I'm not interested in the horse you listed, but do you have one about five years older and kid broke?"

IF I DID, AND IT WAS FOR SALE, I'D BE ADVERTISING IT DOOFUS!!!

Since the $5 was the ONLY thing that bothered you, I'd probably chalk it up to his expecting to bargain, or even feeling he was expected to, and let him have the birds.

I know TONS of people that are always trying to make a deal... I think it is almost like gambling, ya know...but I would not judge his character over it. Times are tough right now and $5 is not what it used to be.

I agree with everyone. I ALWAYS ask the price early on, because falling in love with something I can't pay for and they can't sell me doesn't do either side any good. You hafta find out what's in your price range first, then see if you like any of it. Nobody's going to spend $20 on three chickens and drive an hour or more with them just so they can mistreat them. Feel okay about it. He's a normal guy!

Well, i emailed him back and accepted his offer. He responded right back. Will call him and meet on Wednesday. Really appreciate all the comments. i'm not a bargaining type of person, even at auctions and garage sales. i just don't like dickering. But some people love it, or it's just part of life to them. In any case, glad to be rehoming this little group. Cute little guys, but i really need to trim down. Now onto trying to rehome my silkie roos!

I agree with all the other posters, but i'm also with you on the "not bargaining" thing. I NEVER try to barter with people, but on top of never making a deal i'm always selling my things for less than i was asking. Bah.

Same here! My husband and I just never, ever try to get a deal. If it says $5, we give them $5. But we ALWAYS get bartered down. That's why we're not in sales!

I'm glad i'm not alone then! I'm always so concerned with making people happy i practically give my stuff away. Lord forbid someone ask "is it free?" because even if i wasn't intending for it to be, i would say yes. I gave a rooster away like that a few weeks ago, though to be fair the guy was practically a saint for taking the thing. I'd nicknamed him "Chicken Nuggets If Only I Could Catch You", none of my chickens have "proper names", they're all named like racing horses, haha!
