Is it natural for a hen to play dead during an attack?

I have a roo i have to keep seperate some times because he passes out all the time.

Dogs attacked my flock and one of my hens was playing dead.

I have 12 chickens, two are roosters one rooster is favored by all the one not. One day I noticed one of my hens was apparently dead and the ( not favored roo)was trying to mount her. He gave up and left, then she miraculously gets up! She tricked that rooster for sure.
