I switched from using pine shavings to FelinePine wood pellets and I noticed that there is less a strong smell of poop. Is it normal for wood pellets to be better at absorbing poop smell than wood shavings? But wood pellets are more expensive than wood shavings. Where can I find FelinePine bedding at bulk pricing?

We use horse bedding pellets. 40# is about $8.00

We have zero odors in our coops or brooders as that's all we use. They are 100% pine. In the coop, we change those once a year. In the brooders, usually for every new hatch, sometimes every other.

The horse bedding pellets are awesome and very affordable, and as far as absorbency are able to absorb twice as much moisture as the same volume of pine shavings or hemp thus the reduced smell/increased efficiency!

Is there a scientific reason why pellets work better than shavings of the same material (pine)?

The pellets are compressed, so they have absorbent properties. Shavings can't come close. They absorb the moisture from the poop.
