is it normal

Well... often times women gain none, or even lose some, in the first trimester thanks to the joys of morning (what a misnomer) sickness... so I guess maybe for those in the 2nd their body might try to catch up...

Problem though is that in the first two trimesters you typically only see the doc once a month... so, it could take that long before a doc sees your weight and could comment on it... whereas you can weigh yourself and freak out anytime.

Also... scales can be evil... not just because they tell the truth... but also because they can be off. If yours is different from the doctor's... well let's say theirs says you weight 100 (just a round number, don't freak out on me)... and you didn't check immediately at home... but waited a week and THEN weighed... and it said 110... well you could totally freak yourself out thinking you gained 10lbs in a week. But, had you checked right then it maybe would say 108 (8lbs off from the doc's scale) and so when you weighed in a week (on yours) you would know to subtract that 8 and know you're at 102... 2lbs in a week... not near the same as 10.

If that makes sense.

Overall, when it comes to preggers (or anything really) if you are concerned give your Doc a call. OB/GYNs are usually VERY used to fielding calls from fretful pregger ladies. You've got hormones on top of all sorts of horror stories on top of all sorts of new physical stuff... they're used to it! Ours was absolutely great about always having someone available to deal with calls. Day it was the office... night it was a nurse/answering service... they'd page whatever doc was on duty (4 or 5 total in the practice, they rotated) and the doc would call you back if they thought it was serious... if not they'd advise the nurse and they'd call you. When DD hit my sciatic I really freaked... but they were calm (a huge help right there) and explained what was going on, what could (or couldn't) be done... etc. Even though it still hurt, I felt much better knowing.

So... give them a call. They know you, and your progress, way better than any of us on here...
