Is it ok that our new babies

Not really. Put a layer of paper towels over the shavings...

I should say something more like, if your like me, and it bothers you there eating shavings. Put paper towels over till there a little older. Then you will have less worries?

They often do eat little pieces of pine shavings. All of mine (even the adults) do it, and it hasn't caused any issues...kind of difficult to get them to stop, actually! It's more important the first 3 days that they know what's food and what's not. Good luck, and welcome!

Completely normal. As long as it isn't big pieces or in large amounts, your good! Its already been said, but my adults even have a Pine Snack every once in a while

Thanx all for the responses. I'm thinkin that i jist may remodle my brooder, an aquarium, by putting a raised hardware cloth floor in it.

I bought some young pullets that had been raised on hardware cloth flooring and were missing toes and toenails from the experience.
