It isnt moldy, it is just the ends of the bread that noone will eat. --- OOPS! Just checked my list and it is ok! Off to get rid of the bread!

Hmmm... how about peanut butter?

Be careful throwing them whole bread slices. They'll try to shove it down, and can choke. I always crumble any bread into small crumbs. Or anything else I feed them, unless it's something hard that they
can peck.

Quote:
Bread has about the same protein as corn

Wonder bread is around 8% protein per slice,

Slice weight about .9 ounces

Convert ounces to grams .9 ounces * 28.34 = 25 grams

2 grams of protein per slice / 25 ounces = 8% protein

Some old timers say that giving the bread will help non layers start laying again. Don't know about that but they do enjoy the scraps.

I also feed leftover bread broken into pieces. I have also given them the crusts from my kids' PB&J sandwiches and they totally dig it! My guess is that peanut butter, like everything else given as a treat in moderation, is okay.
