Is it ok to kill pest birds like finches and doves that eat your feed

I mean, aren't aerial predators a concern as well? You must have hawks/eagles/owls where you live? If doves can get in for feed that easily, can't a hawk get in as easily for its prey? Some simple precautions might be worth the effort and cost tenfold.

I have chain link fencing. Birds of prey that can get in are no concern. 2 grackles thought it would be smart to pick on my hens and steal some feed but my rooster beat the shit out of them which was actually pretty satisfying to see. I didn't let Koa my rooster kill them but I made sure they were scared enough not to come bock. They have never been seen again :D

Also I have a coyote, 3 unidentifiable hawks I have seen(all different species), 1 great horned owl, 2 massive ravens nesting nearby, 1 roadrunner and that's the exotic stuff that lives in my country backyard

Also a tiny coopers hawk tried to get into the coop and he sure did. He got attacked and nearly had a heart attack out of stress getting beaten by a bantam silkie hen. That's right. He lost a fight to a bantam hen that didn't even have a sharp beak or spurs, my rooster cheered her on, eventually I got him outta there and it was all good again (the hawk didn't hurt any of my girls)

I think if you eat the meat it should be fine but check with your game warden to see if it okay to do it. Don’t want to be fined or arrested for killing animals out of season. Normally more predatory animals it fine but birds are different.

I believe in all state or at least most state it is illegal to harm owls since they were killed so much to make head dresses and other native people garnet
