Is it ok to kill pest birds like finches and doves that eat your feed

Bird netting is expensive thought. Where I live in AZ, it could cost up to 300 USD for chicken wire all over my coop. I knew those damn doves would be back. Besides, Doves are not even native to the US. They came here all because 3 doves escaped a pet shop in the Caribbean.

What kind if doves? Here we have rock doves that are actually native to Montana

I don't kill the doves that try to eat my feed, I just hang out with the chickens while they eat and swing my arms around to scare off the doves when they fly in.
I wouldn't kill a dove unless you are planning on eating it. IMO.

Doves are not even native to the US.

You could just feed your chickens in the morning inside their coop before letting them out.
And then again in the evening after they came back in.

This way, no wild birds will be able to fill up on the chicken feed.

Are we talking mourning doves here? If you are then it is one of the most abundant "sporting" birds in the US. There is a hunting season for them and there is a hunting season for them in AZ.
I am not telling you what to do nor am I judging you in anyway. We all decide what we will do or need to do. But, if we are talking mourning dove there is a hunting season on them and it is not hunting season right now. Also, there are approved weapons for how you can take them. Just so you know that.

Today I killed 5 or 6 doves that were in my run eating all my feed. I killed them because I knew they would come back. I track them by pulling 3 of their tail feathers but I know which to pull so It wont hurt them when they fly around. The 6 doves had 3 tail feathers missing. They came back 5 times and ate all my feed. I feel really bad for killing them but do you guys think its morally OK to kill pest birds that enter your coop? I feel like sh!t right now

I think feral pidgeons, mouring doves, and sparrows are OK to kill, as they are not native to north america
