PolishPrincess: yes, I've heard that also, and to not expect to keep most roosters more than a year. Just plan on finding a new young rooster each year or two.

I had a sweetheart rooster over my flock. Sold them to my neighbor when I moved - the rooster was around a year old. He said the roo became agressive to his children in his second year and went to freezer camp.
