How can I train my chickens?

I spend many hours with mine. When I give treats, I request they do something for it. Sit on my lap, jump up, squawk, or anything they would not normally do. It's fun and entertaining. Who needs TV when I have a coop full of chickens!

Don't think I'd ever take one out from underneath hen. Afraid that might stress them. Of course I have time to wait till they leave nest. I recently started being more discreet when removing eggs from nest only because I've discovered one hen going into panic mode if she catches me in the act. She will follow me frantically trying to jump up towards hand carrying egg. I make it a point to collect eggs while they are ranging or distracted.

I had to sit down with my stubborn hens that wanted to be broody over their eggs. Long talks, training with wooden eggs, and I always rubbed their tummies before I took an egg from under them.

It depends on the hen. Some don't care and will even lift up a little for you. Others will go nuts and don't mind BREAKING the egg you're trying to take - pecking the egg nice and hard - I have 3 such delightful hens. Not broody. Just "delightful".
