Is it ok to use a CHE instead of heat lamp?

Will that keep an area at 95 degrees? Do you have the bulb in the brooder or just outside like with a regular bulb?

Right now, it's actually keeping the area directly under it at 110F, but the radius isn't very big and the temp a couple inches away is only 80F so I guess I will stick with a light bulb for at least the first few days to heat a larger area.
The 100watt household bulb seems to keep a nice sized area at 100 and 90 over about 2/3 of the brooder
