Ok im worried bout' my ducks. Im not sure if it is ok for them to sllep in aspen shaveings. I know people are looking. It kinda hurts my feelings that no1s helping.

I dont' know about aspen shavings. We just standard pine shavings for our ducks and had no problems. I have heard that it is cedar that you should avoid.

I would imagine it would be just fine for them, its the scented stuff like cedar that's bad because it causes respiratory problems...

Aspen shavings give off less aroma, and so in some ways may be better than even pine shavings. But if the area is well ventilated, pine is no problem. I had to use aspen when the ducklings were in the indoor brooder (a bedroom with a pen and plastic sheeting on the floor) because DH and I are sensitive to the pine oils.

Now that the ducks are grown, and sleeping outdoors in their own house, which is very well ventilated, I use a base of shavings with a few inches of straw on top.
