Today we went out to give our silkies a high and tight hairdo so they can see better out in their pen and we noticed that we may have 2 roosters, earlier this week one of the roosters started crowing (really cute by the way) but I could not tell which one he was they all look the same right now. Anyway with the two we noticed that they had really red waddles (sp) but we cant see them under all the fluff on their face. So my ? is, will we have to get rid of one or do you think that they can live in harmony? They have been together since hatching we have 6 silkies total 1 bantam 4 aracunas. of the other 5 chicken breeds they are all hens. We are new to silkies so we want to make sure we dont cause any harm to any of them by having 2 roosters.

I have quite a few roosters at the moment and they get along. The older ones keep the youngsters in check, though. But they don't fight each other. As long as you have a few hens and enough space they should be fine. Especially since they grew up together.

Mine fight occasionally but it is more for show than anything. No one gets hurt. Silkie roosters are usually fine together if they grew up together. I have a father and son right now. They sleep together, it is funny really. The hens mostly sleep in another part of the coop.

I have 3 silkie roosters all in the same pen. One is in charge, even over other rooster 3 times his size. But the silkies roo's never fight amoung themselves. I love that they all get along.

I even had a pen with one 9 month old silkies roo and I wanted to let some of my "teenagers" (6 week old) get some sun so we decided to give it a try and put them out with that silkie roo, they got along great. So great we decided to leave them out there with him that night. When i went to check on them that night all in the dark in the beam of my flashlight they were cuddled together.

Silkies are a wonder in themselves. So friendly and so sweet to everyone :)

I agree with everyone else my silkies got along fine they would have a stare down now and agin but no injuries or stress that I could see.

I came here for the same thing. I got another roo and my first roo tried to fight him, although the new one did want to live in harmony, I can't stand seeing them fight!
