Is it okay to move a feeder?

When I added new chickens to my flock last year, I had one feeder in the coop, and the other under the coop in the fenced in run, to make sure they all have a chance to eat.
They are getting along great, and seem to mostly be eating from the feeder outside. They hardly ever touch the inside one. The problem is they scatter the feed around outside, and when it gets wet, it smells really bad. It’s been really rainy here, and I can’t clean it every day.
I decided to take away the outside feeder and only leave the inside feeder so would be more protected from the elements. However, after a few days, it seems like they’re barely touching their food.
Will they adapt to eating indoors? Is this something I should be worried about?
Thanks for your thoughts.

I built this feed shelter out of scrap wood, metal, and pallet wood. The feed stays dry. I also put the feed bowl inside a Tupperware container. That keeps most of the scratched up dirt out of the feed bowl, and catches any feed that they fling out of the bowl.
