Is it Orphington or Orpington?

Because they are not Orpington breeders!

I'm not sure why people add the "h" to be honest. I've seen it done quite a bit, but it's always been orpington as far as I know.

Maybe a few people added the "h" and the misinformation just spread, as misinformation tends to do?

I think the H comes from the way some folks pronounce the word.

"Orf-ing-tun", instead of "Or-Ping-tun". The P is pronounced softly instead of with a hard accent.

So then people start spelling it O-r-p-h-i-n-g-t-o-n to try and make sense of the F sound.

Maybe?

Like some other breeds. It's a mere mispronunciation of the word and then people try to spell it phonetically.
