I have two pekin ducks and both lay everyday and have for the past few weeks and when they don't i look all through the henhouse. But this morning there were three duck eggs! Is it possible for a duck to lay two eggs a day?

Could a chicken have gotten in there and laid the egg?? How old are your Pekins? It takes 24 hours for an egg to go through their system but when they are young things are still working themselves out.

They are 14 months old. The ducks sleep with the chickens so a hen could have laid it but it was with the duck eggs and looks exactly the same.

I think by 14 months their systems should have it all worked out. The picture definitely looks like a Pekin egg. Have you noticed any double yolks?

It happens more often in younger hens but it can still happen to older hens. It's really nothing to worry about.

Yep. My DH and I just had this debate a couple weeks ago ha-ha; we were getting double egg count from our ducks (mallards and one Rouen) for about 2 weeks, and then they must have realized winter was setting in and stopped altogether. I thought maybe a Mallard was laying, too, but no. It was all the Rouen.

She's young, so I figured it was a horomone thing, but 14 months old seems too old to be fluctuating like that, unless she just started laying, or its spring.
